about aubrey:
Aubrey Meiling is a Chinese adoptee filmmaker from St. Petersburg, Florida, drawn to stories that reflect on the past and reimagine what might have been.
After graduating from the University Of Central Florida with her Bachelor’s in Film & Television Production, Aubrey began working as a Producers’ Assistant and Script Consultant before earning a Co-Producer credit on Liz Sargent’s feature debut, ‘Take Me Home.’ The film was the 2025 AT&T Untold Stories winner at Tribeca Film Festival, premiering at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, where it received the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award, and had its international premiere at Berlinale in the Perspectives program.
In 2024, her short film 'Still' received Film Florida’s Emerging Filmmakers Fund. The film follows an eight-year-old Chinese adoptee as she quietly observes the gradual unraveling of her parents’ relationship. Drawing from both theatrical influence and personal memory, Aubrey blends stage-inspired framing with intimate emotional realism to explore themes of memory, identity, and divorce from a child’s perspective—interests that continue to shape the kinds of stories she hopes to tell.
